shorty headers on 390 Fe

I posted this in the exhaust forum for three days no hits.
I was wondering if there are any shorty headers for a 390 Fe. I have been looking at every mag and on every website. nothing. I just figured that if i have to replace the blown maifold gasket I would upgrade to headers. The reason for the shorty is that I would only have to redo the beggining of the exhaust instead of the whole thing, like with full length headers. Thanks.

Sanderson headers in South San Francisco make a great set.

They have bare metal and coated as well.

There are also the factory cast iron shorty headers. FPA might sell a set too.

I couldn't find headers for an FE on Sanderson's site. Are they a "custom application"? They only list small block, big block(460), 351W, 351C, flathead, and y-block. No FE

Thanks dffay, Do you have these on your truck? It says they fit 60-64 full size cars, but I'm wondering if they will work on a truck as well.

Shorty headers are great when you don't have the room for a full-length set.

Why are you wanting shorties instead of full-length?

My set fits beautifully on my 53-F-100 with a 390. I also have the toyota power steering setup and a custom fab mechanical clutch set up. No problem with clearance.

I've posted a similar question like this before and asked if the cast iron shorty headers would fit my 71 4x4 390. Never got an answer...

I have some factory cast headers that I tried on my 53 F-100. In order to shift the entire block to the right (passenger) side to line up with the depression in the firewall and line up with the rear end, they were too wide. I was also unable to fit the steering box I wanted to within the frame.

Shame really, they are cool vintage speed parts that I wanted on the truck. They are better left to a hot Galaxie set-up with the wide car frame.

I think the frames are close in width all the way up to 72 on the half tons anyway. My 9-inch differential fit perfectly and it was out of a 69 half-ton.

The Sanderson headers I have on my 66 f-100, 390,were listed for the 427. It was just plain bitchin' how nice they fit. I plumbed them into 2 1/2" duals...music, just music. I also went with a gear reduction starter for a little more space...My one regret was that I cheaped out and painted mine. I have since then seen a set of the ceramic coated ones from Sanderson and they are PRETTY.oh yeah, when I installed them, one side went in from the top and the other side went in from the bottom.
