I doubt it will, but if you look at the billet Saginaw bracket it should hold the Ford E series version easily.

Yes, Corporate, Second generation.
Interested to hear the results.

Maybe that's why the pump I bought was on sale for $40.99?
Cardone calls it "magnapure filtration' but every Saginaw I've ever seen has a magnet inside.

Beat a dead horse

I am new to this forum. Hi everyone. I dont want to add to the drama but is the cardone 20-7878f the same as the original replacement the cardone 20-6244? Thanks. By the way i am wanting to put this on a 79 ford f150 with a 302. Is this the best or right option? Or should i go with a pull a part van saginaw? Thanks again

No
The 20-7878 (F) is a van Saginaw.
It fits the 1986 E350 that I pulled my 460 brackets from.
And many other applications.

The 'F' suffix is for their 'magnapure' filtration.

Well whats the difference in the van saginaw and a truck saginaw? Besides the bracketry. If its meant to fit the 5.0 in a van it should fit the 5.0 in my truck correct?

IF... YOU GET ALL THE BRACKETS AND PRESSURE HOSE FROM A VAN.

There never were any factory 'truck saginaws'

Cardone used to make an adapted one.
NAPA used to sell the same pump under their own number.

Welcome to the forum 832005

I guess what i am trying to ask is there any difference in the saginaw pumps as far as power or reliability? Or are the way you mount them and hook them up the only difference? The internals are the same correct or no? Thanks

Also what about the Cardone 20-6904? It seemed to fit many fords. Is this the same pump as the 20-6244?

Its just 2 different designs from 2 different manufacturers. The Ford pumps can & do a great job. Just sometimes you get one that won't do anything but squall & NOTHING seems to make it stop.

The internals are very different!
The Saginaw is silent in operation and won't spit up if you turn the wheel while the engine is off.
It seems to have more power. (subjective on my part)
The wheels don't shudder when turning at a stop, and it does not scream when against the locks.

Many of the rockcrawler guys would blow a C2 pump the first day of use.
Just go read FullSizedBronco or BC Bronco's forums.

Basically, Ford didn't want to pay GM for millions of power steering pumps any more.
Saginaw was (is?) a division of General Motors.

Midsized car application. (Granada, Monarch, etc...)
Probably doesn't have the pressure the van pump does.
... and the return line would be pointing at the steering box.

Be mindful that buying a pump outright will not get you a cap.
So you better pick one of those up too.

I get that there is a difference between the saginaw and the ford factory or c2. Whatever its called. The question i asked was there a difference between the saginaws? Other than how they mount.

So the 20-7878f would have all the pressure i need just like the 20-6244 that are no longer available? All i have to do is figure out what bracket to use to mount it. Or build my own. Correct?

If thats not the same. Then exactly what pump should i buy? I have a 1979 Ford F150 Custom 4x4. The pump it has on it doesnt look like either one of the 2 pumps i mentioned earlier or the fod pump. Is there a different looking saginaw pump other than pear shaped? Thanks for any info.
