Tony, Love the truck. I have been searching for some ideas for a 68 that Im about to buy and you just totally put me in the zone. Cant wait to get mine to the hight of yours. I will be runnin without bags for a while to. But, I still want the stance that your truck has, even if I never get bags at all. Is the ride still smooth at that level?
if you want to go as low as mine you can't do it with beams.... my buddy and i used a 1971 lincoln front frame section from the firewall forward. the rear is c-notched. the lincoln front suspension is all stock... the control arms are stock, the shocks are stock, the disc brakes are stock, the sway bar is stock... the only thing that is not stock are the front springs... my buddy had an extra set of g-body buick springs that were the exact same size as the stock lincoln springs, so we put them in...they were free. good luck. look at my gallery and you can see a bunch of pictures.
tgowers, your truck sits perfectly. i have been on the fence on how to lower my 65. so i joined this site just to ask you a few questions if you dont mind. first, what model lincolin did you use? it looked as though it was the same width right? was the bolt pattern the same for the wheels or di you drill out the disks? thanks and again good job on the truck!
71 lincoln continental. it worked out to be the perfect width. the bolt pattern is different, so i just ran the stock lincoln wheels up front. There was a ton of fab work, but you can look through my pictures and see a lot. the steering box from the lincoln won't work, i used a rack from a taurus. had to notch the front crossmember to allow the oil pan to clear. had to use a summit oil filter relocater to mount the oil filter to the core support. used the stock licoln disc brakes up front with the stock truck drums out back. wildwood proportioning valve to dial doan the rear brakes to allow full pressure to the discs.... and a residual valve in the rear line to keep the drums from draining off. fab new motor mounts. have a look at the picks, and then let me know any other questions.
1971 F100 Lowered with beams in front rear hangers and shackles. 390 C-6 all original paint. More plans for theengine and suspension. I think I'll leave the paint because of the pantina'd look.
