electric lock issues

I have a 2006 f150 fx4 and the electric locks keep locking and unlocking. It is sitting in the drive now I can here the actuator working. Even when I click the lock or unlock button it continues to cycle. anyone heard of this before?

lock problem

look in your owners manual--if you don't have one i can dig mine up..try performing the disable auto locking procedure it describes.. then you can always reactivate later....

Look to a low defective voltage battery. The system goes B-zerk with low voltage. Usually a new battery ok's things if Alternator is doing 14 volts.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. I turned off the auto lock feature. IT was a challenge to get the sequence down because the locks keep locking and unlocking while I was going through the steps. Once I got it completed it did not stop.

I will check the battery. I replaced the battery in Aug of last year with an Optima red top so I hope it's not going bad already.

It's funny how it does it starts when I lock or unlock it. Then after a period of time (never the same amount) it will stop. I parked it in the drive this morning and I could hear it working away. I walked out an hour later and thought it had stopped. Instead of doing it one right after the other it was unlocking about every 3 min. It's also weird that once I getack in the vehicle if I try to unlock the passenger door I have to do it with the door handle as the power locks won't work.

I figure unless I can figure out what it is the door locks will just stop working alltogether before long.

well it did stop. the doors no now longer unlock via the switch on the door panel. I have done some research and tore into it. I believe it to be the drivers side door switch that was bad. Soon to ind out for sure.
