Once you get it installed you'll want to put the frame on jackstands and allow the rear axle to go to full droop. Put the truck in N and spin the rear d/s, looking for any potential binding at the CV or rear yoke (this you'd have to fix w/grinding, not lengthening tho). Anyway, while it's like this observe the slip joint - if it's close to pulling apart you'll want to have it lengthened. There's no definite answer because Ford used various d/s styles over the years. I'm 99% sure the front d/s, however, will be fine.
