I too am a bit younger (19) and if you're whining that you wouldnt be able to afford a small jump to a larger motor while being able to afford the other $30,000 for a truck, I just say wow. If you can afford that much, and are really that crazy about power, spend the extra 10% (if the one you think is going to have an extra $3,500 tag) and get the bigger motor..its not that much more.
BTW, sorry to hear about your 5.4. My 5.8 (351W) in a 1987 pickup has plenty of enough power for me, and I get 16-18 for milage.......
Im sure we would all like to have engines with 800-900 hp and 1400ft-lbs of torque (they're called diesels) and would love to drive them for free, but we just have to live with what we have, or go join Ford's engineering team and tell them what you think needs to happen.

and i said i was afraid not that it was 100% going to happen
cool down !?!?!?!?!?
You didn't HAVE to say it was 100% gonna happen because it won't. Don't worry by the time you're ready for it, it'll be within reach provided you keep your credit clean and save (not spend) all your $$.
Oh and I don't need to cool down, brah, because I wasn't hotted up.
the regular cab is different, i setup the crew version cabs with 4x4, leather, and tow package, there was a 3 thousand dollar difference, and the work truck version of the tundra is way overpriced, and im not just saying the engine, im saying the overal price in the truck, don't get me wrong i would pay for the extra how many thousand, as long as it doesn't go over like 4.5k for just a bigger engine
if you want a race truck then go get a lightening or a SRT10
.................................................. ...............................
if you want a very good truck with a very good powertrain and a sold arse frame that will get the job done day in and day out every day no matter what you throw at it then get the FORD...
all this crap about not enough power this and that is crazy...
300HP and 365 Ft lbs is plenty.....do people want more....of course they do but do you really need it ...NO
if they would take the current 3V 5.4L to 345 HP and like 400 Ft lbs that would be plenty and would save tons of money in development of the 6.2 hurricane....
give us the diesel like they are going to do....
it's going to be a 4.4 L
320 HP i think and 515 Ft lbs and that will shut everyone up....
FORD IS THE BEST STILL ARE ALWASY WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE....

Dude, get your story straight. You can't start talking about tow packages, leather and stuff. We're talking the price of the bigger engine. No matter how you slice it you still only pay $1260 more.
monsta is right.....you have to be apples to apples.....cause if your going to compare the total price of the truck then their are lots of other variables that come into play....

Well, no it is not. Why go through the trouble of tweaking an engine if you're aren't going to come out #1 ...especially if a whole truck redesign is gonna happen. Makes no marketing sense.
Who are your sources on these figures? Quote sources.

ya i agree that is probably with a 4v version of the 5.4L, they need a new engine to get going so they can work on it over the years like they did with the 5.4L, that 6.2L that is producing a rumored 400 + HP is supposedly only 2v im not sure though so don't take my word on it
the only way i can see them just tweaking the 5.4L and making it the larger displacement motor, is if Ford wants to save money, but they should be smart with handling the #1 selling truck, espeacilly when Chevy, Toyota, and im sure Dodge is thinking about getting out a new Ram as well, are right around the corner
the 5.4 i meant it would be nice if it would go to those power numers...
me personally i'm perfectly fine with my 5.4 just the way it is...tows great, rides great, quiet exc...
