MN title Q's, thoughts, opinions?

Ok, I got an old truck from the jy, and the lic. plate on it has already been reissued (to a geo Metro of all things), and the original title is long gone. No record of a previous owner. I'm looking to title it, but the question is the bond process. Is it really as bad as I've heard? how long does it take, 3 years? Can the jy owner write a Bill-of sale? Anybody else go through this nightmare?

I was told from a JY that it was illegal for them to sell vehicles from their yards.. Maybe get a salvage title? I imagine that a junkyard would have to make up some document saying you didn't steal it or nothing. BTW what year ford did you get?

1948 F1. Originally bought from the jy by a friend w/title, he sold the truck to someone I work with who in turn gave it to me. All the while, my friend never transferred the title(i.e. no new plates) and he lost it. The original owner has long since passed. Before I start rebuilding it, I'd like to get a title, but in talking to the local DMV, the bond process is about all I can try to do. I'm kinda wondering what problems I'll encounter.

I had a '71 Nova with a '73 Chevy pick-up title. I drove the car for 3 years before getting caught. It was too much trouble to change it so I junked a perfectly good car.
