Thanks so much guys. I told dad about it. He said the first reply was what he wanted that I had misunderstood him. I told him if he has any more questions let me know and I will ask.
I think he has 3 or 4 of these old trucks. I know one is original and he drives it around the farm some. The next one has the body installed on a 1979 F150 4X4 frame and the last one is a 1 1/2 ton with out a bed. Dad and my youngest brother cut the '79 frame and shortened so the '50 body looks correct on it.
They have done quite a bit of work on that one but he still has a ways to go.
Thank you so much.

Welcome to the board!! It sounds like you and your family have a pretty neat stable of trucks. Your dad sounds like quite a fabricator. We'd love to see pics of all of the trucks!
Way back when I had dreams of replacing my dash also (a previous owner used a church key and a smoke wrench to modify my radio opening). I even went so far as to try and cut one out of a truck at a wrecking yard with basic handtools (don't ask). I gave up when I realized the huge scope of the project. Like the guys said, the dash is a major structural component of the cab. Your best bet would be to cut a patch panel out of a known good dash and use that in yours.
Good luck
Bobby
