TBC Fault on Driver Info Center Display
06 PSD, on the driver information display, "TBC Fault" was displayed for about 5 seconds. First time about one month ago when I will towing. I assume "Trailer Brake Controller". Figured maybethe connection between the truck and trailer was loose or something.
Last week, not connected to a trailer, the fault displayed again for about 5 seconds. Everything seems just fine.
Anyone know what this is? Something I should get checked out? Truck has 30K miles on it; oil changes only thing down under the hood since new....
Thanks, Tim

tcorbitt,
Could be a problem with the TBC or with the wiring on your trailer. In your manual there are some basic trouble shooting codes for the TBC. If these don't answer your question, then take it into the dealer and the dealer is able to do a much more thorough diagnostic of the TBC and determine the problem. There have been a few TBC that have broken, but a large majority of the problems are in the trailer wiring.
Good luck

Thanks blackhat,
I expected TCB was trailer brake controller, but was not sure. Called the dealer and they knew exactly what the problem was. The TBC fuse was not seated tightly from the factory. Their is a TSB for this that applies to 2005 trucks, however they are still seeing an occasional issue with the 2006 trucks from time to time.

I am having similar issues with an 06 250 6.0L (40,000 miles). I have never had a trailer with brakes hooked to it and it keeps blowing the fuse that controls the flashers/ brake lights/ and turn signals on my truck. Fuse 18 ... I replace and as soon as I step on the brakes the fuse blows and I am getting a TBC Fault in the display window. Any one have any ideas what is going on?? Of course it is a holiday weekend and they are all closed Monday ... I am supposed to drive to 3 different states on Tuesday and now this! Thanks!

I had a TBC Fault on my 07 PSD that also blew the fuse that controlled the brake lights, flashers, and turn signals. Turns out when I had my daylighters installed, the aftermarket installers decided to move a wiring harness that was on the firewall behind my pedals, so everytime I pushed in the pedal, it pinched a wire, caused a short, and the fuse blew. I'm not sure if any of that really applies to you, but you might want to get under the dash and make sure that none of the wiring is being pinched by the pedals. Good luck!

Both were actually helpful ... after reading the post I was staring at the truck trying figure out what was wired to it that would short out and it was staring me in the face ... when I had the topper installed on the back of the truck they wired in the brake light for the back ... while hauling stuff it had worn through the wire ... disconnected the light and everything is working. Thanks for the quick reply!
