Fuel Filter 1996 F150 5.8L
I was about to replace my fuel filter and noticed that the front fuel tank is partially in the way. I'm sure that I can probably remove the filter, but unsure if I can replace it without droping the tank. I'm looking for tips or a confirmation that I just need to put in the labor time and drop the tank.

it is a stupid location for the filter but you don't need to drop the tank. 1st thing you need is the insert to disengage the quick connect hose fittings, available at any parts store, i bought the pack with 6 different sizes for around $15. then i wedged two screwdrivers down each side between the filter and the clamp that holds it til the lip of the filter was free of the clamp. then i used the quick disconnect tool to free the line to the back of the truck first. once that is done i pulled the filter out of the clamp and the front line is long enough to let it hang under the truck and get the front line off very easily. if you don't know how to use the tool for the hose let me know it's really simple. i've thought about next time i do it to extend my line from the back of the truck farther forward so it's not between the tank and frame.
