I am getting a front and rear set of bars from a Bronco II free. I think I can adapt them to fit.

Got any pictures of that install? What was the almost part?

I want to try the front too. From the measurements I have, it should be close.

Does anyone know of a site or other method of I.D.'ing a sway bar? I have an 1 1/8" bar on the back of my truck that I'd like to i.d. as I need new links and bushings, and I'd just like to know what it is.. I talked to a guy at No Limit who said there is no way of knowing w/o something being stamped on the bar. I may take a foto of it tonite, since my bed is off, and see if anyone recognizes it.

Brian, I will have to wait till I take my bed back off to get pics. The "almost" part was to drill out 2 holes to a larger size, the holes were already in the frame.

I had heard or read someplace that the Dodge Dakota sways are an almost perfect match up for the '53-'56 effies. Can anyone verify or sh!*-can that little nugget "o" info?

Not a problem at all. I can drill holes! I thought you meant re-shaping or making mounts or something odd. Did the mounts fit the stock rear axle ok? Or is yours a 9" (or other)?

Did you look at the front one before you removed the front axle for the clip?

On my 56 I installed front and rear sway bars, it is a must do, what a difference. I have a Mustang II front end and it handles like a sports car (well almost).

Brian, I am using a 8.8 out of a Town Car. The axle tube is 3" like the BroncoII, but the original axle housing is 2.5", so you'll have to do some modifying. Should be able to wrap the tube with a piece of 1/4 flat, spot welded in place, to take up the slack.
As for the front, the PO had already removed the front axle and cobbled up a Volare install, that's the reason for the frame clip.
Here's the best pic I could get with the bed still in place.

Jeff: Thank you sir! Wrapping the U-bolts and welding is no problem at all. Dad works in a steel fabrication shop (I used to) and I have a Lincoln MIG at home.

It will be about a month, but the front and rear BII sway bars will be delivered to my driveway. Free parts and free delivery is not bad.

A friend has them and will be up here one day while I am at work.
