Fuel Filter

Hey guys!

It has been a while since I've been on here, so here goes.

I was under the truck and I noticed that the fuel filter was original to it and it has 93k on it. Is it time to change it out?

Will I see an improvement in power and mpg if I change it out?

Thanks!

That's one of those change it and see questions.
No way to know but unless it's running bad probably not on the mileage and maybe on the power.

I'd change it.
When I replaced the one on my current truck (think it was around 55K miles) it was full of crud. I was suprised there was so much nasty stuff to see running out of it when I put it in the bucket.
Matter of fact, it's about time for me to change it again.

Should I get a Motorcraft fuel filter or can I get away with other brands? Is the 4.2 picky about what parts are on it or would it not care?

Advance sells Purolator for under $7......AZ sells some German brand for the same....Wal-Mart sells FRAM for the same....any one of these are fine, unless you want to get one from the dealer for twice the price!

When I had the Splitfire plugs on mine, it absolutely hated them. It would miss real bad every time I drove it. But when I put the Motorcraft plugs and wires on, it really loved them and it hasn't missed ever since. I only had about 5K on the Splitfires before I had to take them out. Consider it a lesson learned.

What fuel filter brand would you most recommend and why?

Thanks

Personally I like Wix. Any good name brand should do it.

Nothing to do with filters but I am not real happy with Motocrap parts.
First two sets of cheap ball joints that I had to replace in 6 months and then a bad (new) plug wire in a set that caused me lots of trouble.
