Talking door label - rear end?

From reading other threads, i think the below door label means I have:

Limited slip
9.75"
3.55 gears

my label says:

BRK
C

INT TR
HH

R
8

AXLE
H9

TR
U

SPR
69

1F514
F0A

Am I right? what does the rest of it mean?
Is 3.55" "OK" for towing? don't know much about it.

Since its a 5.4 yes you have a 9.75 if it was a 4.6 it would be an 8.8
Most of the 5.4s came with 355s unless it was ordered special or a special edition.

With the 5.4 it will tow fine with 3.55 gears and even better if you have a manual trans. The 3.55 is a good all around gear ratio to have or I think it is.

so, like a 3.73 (if it exists) would give better mileage, but not as good for towing?

It all depends on what size tires you are running.
When I went from 3.55 to 4.10 My guy told me it was not worth the money to go from 3.55 to 3.37.He said I would hardly feel a difference.
With the 4.10s and my stock 16" tires it runs about 400 more RPMs at 70 MPH then it did with the 3.55s.

BRK - Brakes, though I don’t have a C listed as an option It’s probably 4 wheel anti-lock.

INT TR - Interior Trim, Leather captains chairs, Medium parchment

R - AM/FM premium stereo with compact disc (CD) changer and cassette

AXLE - 3.55, limited slip

TR - Transmission, four speed automatic AODE (4R70W)

SPR - Spring codes YL34-5560-AF, Leaf. You should have a letter and not a number for the front springs

The last few numbers are your power train calibration codes.

They seem to work well in my 97 4.6 and i've pulled 4000# on the highway. It took me a little to get up to speed but once I did I could maintain 60.

3.73s would get you better milage and would be better for towing because the engine doesn't have to work as hard to get the load moving.
