V10 Superchips, Predator, or Troyer Custom?

I have a 2003 (2 valver) V10. I have the Banks Powerpack installed (no ottomind chip). A year or so ago, I had a superchips off the shelf 1715 tuner. I was generally happy with it. I was great for the tranny and so so for the engine. One thing that I was dissapointed with was the lack of improving throttle response. I got rid of it due to insane gas prices in the fall of 2005. My truck has 75K miles. It is very well maintained. My truck is going into semi-retirement in a few months. So, it wont be a daily driver anymore. Gas prices wont matter in that event.

What do you guys have experience with? I could go the off the self superchips route again. I know what to expect there. The webmaster used to rave about diablo products. I see now that Troyer does custom superchips tunes. In a earlier post about V10's they state very impressive power gains with a custom tune.

I am more of a hand held programmer person. I dotn like the idea of hacking open the PCM case to install a chip.

Any thoughts or experiences you would like to share?

Anyone use Troyer Performance for their V10?

Thanks in advance.

I have a predator and love it, had a jet chip that did absolutely nothing. The predator allows you to mess with alot of stuff like trans pressure and shift firmness. I also like th fact that you can adjust the performance tunes to your own liking.

I have one of Troyer's custom tunes that I have not yet installed. Need to get the Y-pipe changed first, then install the tune.

I will let you know how it does when I finally get it installed.

Although Mr. Troyer and I butt heads on some things, and flat out disagree on others-I do know that he takes care of his customers. So,it's all in how comfortable you are with a tuner via mail order. If you're close by-I'd definitely say go see Troyer. If not, you may be better served to find a competent tuner that uses custom tuning software in your area.

I have my Xcal II & Troyer custom tunes on order right so I may be a little biased. I would say you have nothing to worry about mail ordering your tunes from Troyer Performance. Everything I have read over on a different F150 forum regarding Mike and his customer service has been nothing short of outstanding. I have no doubt I put my truck's custom tuning in the hands of the best out there.

Do yourself a favor and if you're still trying to decide give Mike a call, you won't be dissappointed.

I am still undecided. I am leaning to the SCT Xcal. I have a local dyno shop that custom tunes for $475 including thre dynojet runs. Problem is her has never tuned a V10. He really want to tune my truck for the experience with the V10 but he understands if I go somewhere else because of his lack of experience.

I've been running a single bank Troyer custom tune chip for 4 yrs now. I have a SCT ordered to replace it so I can run 87 fuel. I really like the performance the custom chip I have gives my truck. I've compared it to a Superchip 1715 & a Hypertech programmer & it outdid both at the track & gets good mileage on the street when driven right. I would recomend Troyer from my experience. He has good service. I have a set of his efans on my truck also. In 4 yrs of using him I haven't had a problem.
