Question Fram Oil filters

The last time I changed my oil myself, I bought a Fram PH2. As I recall, I could not use that filter because the threads were different. I took my Excursion to a local oil change place to do it the time after that. Well, here I am and I need to change my oil. I went out and crossed referenced the filter that is on it and it says that I should use a Fram PH2.

Any suggestions? Also, I beleive that the PH2 and PH8 use the same threads but the 8 is larger. If the PH2 is supposed to work, can I use the 8 instead?

Your truck calls for a PH2. I'm unsure if the PH8 will work, but why not use the PH2?

first off, ditch the "orange Crap"!! Fram is not the top notch company it used to be! i've seen the results of a destroyed Fram on a BBC 454, bone stock, and spun crank bearins along with all the rod bearings and rods!!

MotoCraft is one of the best filtrations you can get for your money! along with MC check into WIX/NAPA (same company), they have a outstanding filtration also, more than the V10 will ever need! save your money and stay away from the K&N, and other high priced name brands, your just getting a high dollor fram!!

MC or WIX like brother Jason recommends is best by test and usualy cheaper then the orange thing too....

On the other hand if you change every 90 day or 3000 miles it really does not matter that much except expense

There is zero compelling reason to NOT use the MC FL 820s and most of the time you can find them for $2.79 or less

The Fram, Purolators, AC Delco, and Motorcraft filters are within a few cents of each other at Advance Auto in my area. I just used a Purolator L24651 for my 99 V10.

I'd stay away from Fram at every chance possible.

The PH2 worked just fine. I must have bought something differnet last time. Whatever it was last time did not work. Oh well! I am good to go now.

It might have just been that filter, maybe had incorrect threads. I got home with a MC filter one time that had NO threads cut in it at all. I always check at the store now.

That could be. I tried and tried and tried and had no luck. It just wouldn't go.

Pretty does not mean better.... neither does price

Your money.... maybe for you, assuming better quality helps you sleep well==== but I assure you, there is Zero independent testing to prove what you assume......

I maintain that MotorCraft FL 820S or WIX version is the best bang for the buck because they have been independently tested and perform as good or better then filters costing 4 and 5 times as much...

Do some google, post your proof, and we can get another 5 page heated argument going----grin

there was a post on here a while ago with a spread sheet and graph........now i can't locate it..........but it showed the "high dollor" high performance filters in comparison to the over the counter "wally world" availible brands..........once again that was just confermation as to what everyone was already saying...........for the $, MC is great!

the last time i bought filters i bought 3 (one for my Z71, 03 pontiac vibe, 00 F250) from NAPA and it totaled out to just under $7.oo! one reason is our company has a buisness account for truck supplies lights ect......! WIX makes NAPA brand so that is more than i'll ever need for a 3500-4500 mile oil change. for me it's MC or NAPA!
