Talking Exhaust Repair - The Redneck Way

Just in time for the weekend, a humorous "how-to" for redneck exhaust repair. I don't normally consider myself a "redneck", but hey, what ever works right?

Problem:

Repair:
Step 1 - Get beer

Step 2 - Open & drink

Step 3 - Mangle can

Step 4 - Install hi-tech repair

Now repeat steps 1 & 2 as many times as needed.

LOL Very nice!!! Quite clever indeed. Did it seal well? Looks good actually, doesn't match the pipe, but what's that matter?

nice job ..! but too precise to be redneck ..

redneck you would use coat hangers instead of clamps (actually work quite well.. )

Yes, it is temporary, and yes, it did seal just fine. I started it up and rev'ed it a bit and it is just as quiet as before it broke.

It is 1/2 way back in the exhaust so I doubt it will get that hot. I have a DynoMax cat-back + high-flow converter on order, but the intermediate pipe (the one that is broken) and converter are back-ordered.

I was also motivated by 2 things; First I was sick of smelling the small amount of exhaust that was coming up the side. Second, I got popped for a speeding ticket, 44 in a 25 & the car next to me was going faster than I was. The first thing the cop says to me is "I could hear you coming a mile away", so just because I was louder, I get the ticket. Useless cops.

Sorry about the foreign beer. If it makes you feel any better, I was wearing my Miller Lite tee-shirt while making the repair. I felt it made me look the part.

Nope that doesn't make me feel better, the president of miller brewing company donates a portion of hte company profits to anti gun groups, thus a real anti redneck choice of beer.

seen that done many times works pretty well actually.

I didn't know that. Free tee shirt has now been demoted to "really dirty jobs" only.

v.a. nots that bad on rust unless you live in mountains or right on the coast. they rust away at about the same rate they do here in nc. (i know i have family in v.a. and visit quite often) most n.c. cars rust away from neglect more than anything, though thats just about any where i imagine.
