"Wiring fault on trailer" message

Yes it's very easy to take apart....there are 2 bolts that hold the two factory installed recepticals in place to the trailer hitch (at least on mine it's this way), they are 10mm.
Take them out and lower the whole assembly down where you can see it. There is one single plug, about 1 1/2" in diameter. This plug has one of those plactic lock tabs, spring it up and pull it apart.......
The part that is attached to the metal bracket is the one that held the water, about 1 teaspoon worth.
Sorry, I didn't take any pictures, but really this is easy to disassemble. Go figure....I was ready to start stripping wires etc.....yadda yadda.

Yippee!!! Hooray!! Thanks Gulf Coast Ford in Angleton, Tx. They vowed to keep the truck until they fixed it. Yes, the factory plug had water in it. This is the cause of all my problems, they say. It is fixed. They swear that when they replaced the plug, they reinstalled the new one where this will never happen again.

Sounds to me like FoMoCo owes me check for discovering the source of their problem!
I'd bet if a person was to measure the Dia's of both the male and female plug ends, there would be enough room for a rubber o-ring and proper fix. Simply relocating the plug will NOT help, it needs to be sealed from retaining water!

Why do i have to strip wires to look for moisture in the plug?
Basic trouble shooting procedures from the start does keep it simple! And you locate the problem quickly, which results in a quick repair and you are back on the road.
FYI keep the personal attacks to yourself!
