Ordered my 450 in Nov / Still no truck...

Is this normal or did my dealership drop the ball and not order my truck
right away? They told me when I ordered it should be here in Feb. , it almost April. I have someone wanting to buy my 350 and he wants it now.

I might be wrong but I understood that the dealer can get information as to exactly where the truck is in the assembly process and when it should be on his lot.

I orderd mine 12/18/06 and it was at the dealership 2/12/07. The dealer can find out where it is if they want to. The whole Ford/Navistar situation might be the reason for the delays with your truck.

Guys the F450 is a commodity restraint. So is Total Crew Cab. It varies slightly by region but for example, If we are given 10 superduties for a month production only 50% can be Crew Cab and only 5% can be F450 (thats right half a truck). We are given a production week 4-6 weeks prior and then we are given an ETA week. Only when the ship time has expired can the dealer ask for a trace. Making matters worse, a 450 crew cab dually is larger and reduces the availability of transport capacity, you can only fit three maximum on the top of a truck carrier. If it is any consolation my third 450 customer (ordered in October) is not scheduled yet. You'll love it when it gets there!

I believe my order went in the 28th of Feb. 4 a 450 and my dealer has not received the build date yet. The Ford/Navistar party was right after that and then of course the tailgating weenie roasting fire breathing issue most recent! Dealer told me both issues cost a couple days each at least!!! My 1st Ford and I hope I did not make a BIG mistake!!!!! By the by, anybody look'n 4 a 2001 3/4 4x4 Suburban loaded up????

have faith in the Ford, don't start freaking out if you have some small issues, it is a new truck afterall, as long as your truck is not going through motors left right and center i'd say its good

Thanks for the info Jim Carson! Always interesting to learn about the inner workings of this order/production/delivery process. BTW, you have a great website and your taste in women is impeccable!

Thnks Dave. Maybe you can make out Trailer Tow Open House? We clear the lot and bring in 5 trailers from 19 to 30 ft and equip F150, F250, F350 with appropriate hitches and brake controllers and let customers come in and test drive , mix and match, bring their own truck etc and we have some experts speak about safety and regs. If make it all this way I'll have one of girls on the BBQ!

Jim - My Bad! Don't know why but I originally thought your dealership was in California until I got serious and looked it up. I'm about 3.5 hours away in Rochester, NY!

It would be great to come up and visit our great neighbors to the North! And I'm sure my bride would enjoy coming along to keep her eye on me. She's a regular contributor to the Canadian economy by buying wine at Niagara-on-the-Lake and playing the slots at the Casino's in Niagara Falls.

Let me know the dates for your Trailer Tow Open House and I'll try to schedule the time off.

Dave
