This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. What is the differance between the 7.3 in the P/S and the engines in some of the school buses. I have neighbors that are convinced that the 7.3 would never power the weight of a school bus. I stand behind my 7.3 and believe it would. Thanks. I told you it was a weird question.
its all in the trans and dif gearing, and you can push school bus with 4banger gaser, the field tractors have much smaller motors and they pull more weight than you can think of, all day long ,
so your neighrbors should do their homework
hope this helps you
As a matter of fact, it is the same engine. If your friends don't believe it, look under the hood. Some of the intake and exhaust things are different, the turbocharger is shaped differently, and there are a few other changes such as the external parts are changed around so it sits in the framerails of an International easier. It sounds the same as a school bus, and for good reason.
How many schoolbuses do you see sitting alongside the road broken down?
My neighbors are all old retired people for the most part in florida. The give me the look and act like it's too loud , yet is was quieter than when I had a straight pipe. Maybe they would like the sound of 4" straight pipe.
After 165,000 miles my ZF trans and transfer case are still that clean, but my engine is a different story. I wish my manifolds and oil cooler were still gleaming like those.
