For all those that have a 6.4 at home now I am wondering on the space under the hood. I havent seen a truck with the 6.4 in person yet (only gas jobs). What are you able to reach?
also I am told that the 6.4 doesnt fit in a van configuration. That is a big deal because there are many, many ford vans that are ambulances.
International has got other engines that Ford may put in there Van series......and all the ambulances around hear are Fords....I havent seen one Chevy ambulance.
I may be mistaken but the other engines are not powerful enough for the ambulances, I also believe navistar builds some ambulance types of trucks like the armored cars.
Alot of municipalities did change to Chevy for ambulance use, but mainly because they are the only company to offer a gasoline engine ambulance chassis. We sold 2 F-350 chassis cabs to an ambulance builder recently... I can't wait to see what they look like.
They're being installed yes but as far as ordering a E-350 with the 6.0L you can't no longer do it. I'm thinking of going to the F-250 this time around with the 6.4L in it. Basically just a stipped down work truck is all I want.
