Tell me about the 4.2L V6

Im looking to trade up to a newer truck in a couple years. Im just looking for a basic 4x2 regular cab worktruck. Ive found a few '05s listed locally that got for $10,000-$14,000.
Tell me about the 4.2L V6. Is it an engine that last 200,000 miles and be fairly reliable? Ive got 156,000 miles on my '99 F-150 right now, but its getting to be about time to start considering trading up to something newer.
I dont think that I really need a V8. All I use my truck for is hauling a bedload of firewood once or twice a year, hauling my snowmobile and ATV and for use as a daily driver.
Ive driven older F-150s with 300 sixes and 302s and was happy with the power, so I think I would be happy with a 4.2L V6, Im just curious as to the reliability and durability of this engine. Can an '05 or newer F-150 with a 4.2L V6 match the reliability of my current truck? (which hasnt been perfect but all in all I dont think I can complain)

Seen it done. Yes I've seen the 4.2 (well maintained) break 200k. Not done it myself yet. I've got 115k, well maintained, never seen a shop.

01 F15 4x2 spr cab, shorty.

I have found the 4.2 to be a good motor. It does not have the oomph of a V8, but if you don't need it, then you should be happy.

I put 170,000 miles on a 2000 model, and have 86,000 miles on my current '05. I have been very happy with both trucks.
