8.8 4.10 gears?

so heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ford-...spagenameZWDVW

there are lots of these on ebay, what my question is would that posi and gears swap right into the rear end of my 88 f150 2wd v8 5.0?

and is there any other sites i can find some new gears and posi for my truck?

yeah if your truck has 31 spline axles like the explorer then it will swap right in and that aint no posi, thats a limited, slip posi is a gm term. and go on any site like summit or jegs and you will find tons of gears, LS units, lockers, and spools for your 8.8. oh and by the way the ebay site said that carrier had 3.73 gears on it

The F150 with the 5.0 V8 and 4.10s with TracLoc is a terrific combination by the way. The truck is a lot quicker in acceleration and there is much better throttle response.

I have this combination in my F150 from the factory and it really brings the 5.0 alive in this heavy 4350 pound truck.

Here is a pretty good site for 8.8 differentials:http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/5o...5ohtech001.htm

You will love the 4.10s for pulling--especially if you have 35 inch tires. What differential gear do you have now??

phoneman91, what size tires are you running with your 4.10s? I know you have a 5sp, but what kind of rpms do you see at 70mph? I'm thinking of doing this to my truck, but I only run 31" tires.

str8racing, I would think you would need to go lower than 4.10 with 35" tires.

yeah, something like that. Have you already gotten the gears? You may want to talk with someone who has a similar setup, 302 w/e4od and 35s. You may ask around in the 4x4 forum. Alot of guys there run 35s.

well i hear that swapping a whole new axle with the gears in it is more than half the price on a 2wd

everyone tells me that just swapping in gears is a very long and difficult process even with the correct tools, is there any DIYs for swapping in new gears?
