0w-30 in a 4.0 SOHC?

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the "German" Castrol Syntec 0w-30. Has anybody used it in the 4.0 SOHC?

Just make sure your oil pressure stays good, we have a customer that the Esso (Exxon) EXD3030 (or superflow) is all he will use in his vehicles. He works for the oil company and he does this even in lease vehicles.

my super hot roded 4.0 sohc pushing 440 rwhp has since day one had 5w40 castrol syntek of the german code used by VW for the liltle turbo diesel, it has never used a drop to this day.

now as to useing a 0w30 .i still even knowing it's been out a long time in mobil one don't think i would go that low in my ride around where i live in northwestern new jersey. i might give it a try up in alaska . just not now where i am.

ford had a big reason going to 5w20 and 5w30 in thier motors , which they have long proven they know what they are talking about. stay with 5w30 year round or up one grade to 5w40 in the summer ,back down to 5w30 in the winter.

as i stated i run castrol syntek 5w40 year round. never any problem. hope i never do also as the motor has paxton super charger bolted up onto a custom built $ 8.000.00 stage 3 long block. i would rather stay just a bit on the safe side and keep the blower well feed on a very good brand name of oil.

I'm using GC...

...in my '95 Explorer. It works great!

Contrary to "conventional wisdom," 0W-30 is NOT thinner than 5W-30, 10W-30 or SAE30 at operating temperature - especially GC, which is on the thick end of the 30 spectrum.

It flows well at cold start-up, and yields great oil analysis results, overall.

BTW, I use Chevron Delo Synthetic 0W-30 in my Chevy C20, and it is great, too. It's on the thinner end of the 30 spectrum.

Been using 0w-30 synthetic for 5 years in my 4.0L, no problems. Dealer is always impressed with cleanliness of engine and good mileage.
