Talked with an '08 owner athe pump yesterday.

Had to share this with you guys.

I'm filling up at the pump yesterday afternoon, and up pulls this beautiful black 2008 F350 Lariat Dually. The guy (older man in his 60's) leaves it running while he's fueling up, and I'm about 6-7 feet from the cab and his engine is quieter than mine when it's at full NOT and idling and I'm inside may cab! It was idling so smooth, sounded GREAT!

He and I get to talking. Talk about a faithful Ford man.... this was THE guy!

He had a 2003 6.0L and went through 3 engines. Dealership could never find the codes responsible for his CES light problem, and he ended up blowing the engine. Dealer determined it was running too lean due to a problem with the HPOP. Their rebuild effort blew up when they started up on engine #2, and then on engine #3 they could never get it to run well. They bought the truck back from him, and what does he do? BUYS a 2008 model! He traded his "first year model" 6.0L for a "first year model" 6.4L. Faithful Ford man to say the least.

I asked him how the truck runs, and he grins really big. This man tells me that he has to be so careful on the throttle that it's almost unbelievable. When he's pulling his large bobcat with a heavy tongue weight distribution, he can still rbeak the rear tires loose if he's not very careful. Even pulling the bobcat, he's had the truck over 100mph and said it was acting like a stallion that wanted to run even faster.

Just thought you guys would enjoy hearing about this new beast I saw.

I heard once idleing the other day, and I had put my hand in front of the exhuast to make sure it was still running. they are quiet. Have yet to ride on one. but they are pretty nice. but I will stick with my 2000 cause of the money I have invested in it.

I think FOMOCO puts a couple of drivers out there in 6.4L's to hang around the Fueling points and "talk up" the new truck. Call me crazy?

So far the 6.4L has been sent to its room, while mommy(FOMOCO) and daddy (IH) argue. It's on month 3 of its production run and is already carrying a recall track- history like the 6.0. And all i have heard good about the truck is that it is so quite when idleing. You have to check this thread out. He got the shaft, big time!

I drove a new 08 super cab long bed i wasnt really impressed with the engine power. But like everyone has said it idled and started very quietly compared to my 7.3 and went down the road with less engine noise I really like the new interior lay out of the truck my perfect truck is a new 08 with my 7.3 in place of the 6.4 not that its a bad engine just I rather keep my non CAT. non PDF non EGR engine around. But still have all the new comforts of the 08

Sounds like my neighbor...Ordered it in November, got it January, I hadn't seen it twice and neither has he. Seems they couldn't find the problem. After 60 days they made him "VERY comfortable" in an '07.

They would've had to make me VERY, VERY, VERY comfortable.

i saw one (08) today across from me at a set of lights, and i gotta say that front end they came out with is in my opinion, ugly, this is gonna take me a long time to get used to that disaster. everything else looked pretty snazzy though.

I went to the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) in Tacoma last weekend and Ford is the headline sponsor. They had a 350 and 450 on display. They look sharp in person but $53,000 for the F350 and $64,000 for the F450 caused me to turn and run to my trusty '99 stroker.

I have also gotten to flog an 08 F-450 lariat with 4.88 gears. As many have mentioned, they are gas quiet when idling, and Lexus quiet on the Freeway. The interior is "No options Barred" awesome. Can't speak on behalf of motor reliability, but the rest of the truck is quite remarkable. Nice thing is this is not an entirely new truck, I am sure if one was to give it a bit, you will be able to find a complete Cab for one that can be easily retrofitted to a 99-03 7.3 frame. My best friend has very elaborate tastes and he even mentioned that finally there is a truck worth $50K. But for me, I will keep mine. No truck payments are nice.

Unreal!!!!! Looks like FOMOCO has got it running just right. At the end of the clip, when the driver steps on the go pedal, it doesnt smoke at all. Flamage is going to have to be added to the description of smoke color for diagnosis of symptoms. Example: Blue: oil
White:fuel
Black: fuel
Flamage: SNAFU!

I thought I heard a 50 cal. firing before I brought the vid up and began viewing it. Crazy. Can you smell lawsuit? Little kid may get roasted as he's riding his bike up the street while a 6.4 is stopped at a traffic light! Still cant believe that I saw that. Do you think International Harvester can sue ford and withdraw its contract with FOMOCO since FOMOCO "re-engineered" what IH produced? Crazy!

The speed limiter is still set lower then 100mph, its 94 mph...unless you have the detuned 6.4 450 engine, which is set quite low at 80mph.
