Had the 97 F150 Tuned

I decided to just get the A/R ratio cleaned up and firm the shifts a little. It base line at 160RWHP and 225TQ (motors has over 100K on it). Since it tows my drag car I was not concern about rwhp but wanted more tq. So we tuned it with a SCT Excal. We did not increase timing so I could still run 87 octane but the A/F was 11.8-12.0 throughout the powerband.

New numbers are 166RWHP and 245TQ with A/F 12.8-13.0 and stock timing. That extra 20lbs of TQ is throughout the entire powerband. The truck still has the factory air box and Fram paper filter (stock) It also has one size bigger tires all around so that through off my speedo about 5mph lol.

Nice. This is for a 5.4 right? I wonder since you didnt adjust timing, would this increase gas milage with conservative driving? Im kind of new to the tuning scene.

Sorry, no it is a 4.6 V8. Maybe it would help gas mileage put spending anywhere from 2.50-2.99 a gallon for high octane is still not worth it to me

thats some pretty impressive numbers for a single tune!! where did you pick up your tuner, and did you have a custom tune written for it??

Yea, do you have the modifiers handy? I went the other and leaned it back slightly. I don't have a dyno around so I don't know what it did, but it feels stronger.

My 5.4L picked up about 1mpg around town and 2mpg on the highway by switching to the 93 octane tune. The added power and better economy well ofsets the $.20 per gallon more I'll see how it does this summer with my Outlaw Power CAI and a Truxedo bed cover.

Unless you're willing to pour 100+ octane fuel in it....you're not gonna gain "alot more" with a tune on a 2V modular in a truck. these engines are so knock constained that they cannot tolerate alot of timing advance-even with preminum fuel.
