Wrench Size
Can anyone tell me what size wrench is needed to remove the pipe from an EGR valve on a 96 Ford Explorer 4.0 L

try a pipe wrench.
use rust penatrant and heat it with a torch.

I cant get a pipe wrench onto it there is not enouh room on the engine side for a pipe wrench. I tried a one inch wrench and it is too small and a 1 1/16 is too big any ideas

Either that, or the metric equivalent of "barely over an inch" which I think would be 27 or 28 mm.
Any chance vice grips or an adjustable would fit in there?

its probably metric. noticed both my fords mainly take metric.
