Ok, it runs,,, on 5 cyl:(
Started my 63 F-250 4x4, w/292 over the weekend, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/points and condensor, have spark to all cyl, but it is missing on #'s 1,2 and 7, pull the plug wires, no change in the engine, plugs look shiny oily. Did I bend some pushrods, it hasn't runs for not sure of how many years, was registered non-op in 93,,,, I have valve cover gaskets on order, any other things to look for?!

Oh, oh, pulled the valve cover on #1 side,,,, no pushrod for #1 intake, and #2 intake pushrod was in the head, a bit tweaked, got it out. Pulled drivers side valve cover, missing pushrod for intake on #7. So the question is, can I leave them in there until I get a chance to pull the engine, it is not going to be making any trips, just mainly around the property, or down to the mail box. Is it a closed in valley, where they can just lay in, I have never had a 292 apart,,,, had a few other V8s and sixes apart, just wondering if that is a closed vally, and they can lay there for another while until I decide what I am going to do with Mater.

Y-blocks are so simple, I'd buy new intake & valley-cover gaskets and a few new push-rods and make sure I fished out the fallen push-rod. Check for internal rusting, and damage to the top of the lifters. Test Suspect valves, you can remove the sp, make sure rockers are both have clearance and use a piece of new 1/2" rubber hose and blow into cyl to check for air bypassing a stuck or bent valve.
The intake manifold is super easy to R&R on this model engine.
