Captfatboyf250 glad to hear you got some bigger rubber just watch your tire pressure don't run them at max unless you're fully loaded (to avoid running on just the center portion of the tire) I usually chalk the tire tread (unloaded) and drive 100 yds in a flat parking lot and check tread (chalk) to assure the complete tread is contacting the road surface. On my truck when I had the 305's I ran 5 lbs less in the rears to ensure both front and rear tire treads were contacting the road surface make sure to chalk 1 front and 1 rear to see what pressure works best for yours for my current 38's on 16x10 rims (unloaded) I'm running 40 psi front and 35 psi rear. I have the v10

Dk ...like your girlfriend ie your icon

Ot I should have but would not of thought of that old circle track trick
Man big thx I will definitely ad that to our next pre flight (chalking)

Btw with the larger tires I did have to change the toe in/out quite a bite
Because compared to the 265 tracking it was all over the road ...
Checked ball joint connecting rods all rock solid, my have a little play in steering
Box ,,,hope this is adjustable....?

that tracking issue could have been over inflated tires writing on the center of the tread creates the same symptoms

Chalk them and check them before searching for a problem you didn't have prior

that was supposed to say riding on the center of the tread never had anyone during issues with mine once I chalked the tires and pressurized them correctly

expanding to question?!

Old topic but relevant to me. My question exactly, however I'll specify, on a dually, what's the biggest tire? Currently running 245/75R17. Factory 17" wheels and no lifts aside from the 2-2.5" front-lift level blocks. I'm gonna need tires SOON and want to fill in the wheel wells.

I had 305s on my 99 with stock wheels. You could feel slight power loss. My 99 for some reason sat really high and neither I or my brother in law who was the original owner did a lift kit.

with limited input I eventually went with a set of 6-285/70R17 (BFG T/A KO2), I have a front lift (4WD Level) and I don't have any rubbing. I don't know if its because of the tires or if it's the re-tune to re-calibrate the speedo but it doesn't seem to like to chirp the tires as much anymore. didn't really notice much of a lift (they're only 1.5" bigger tires so 0.75" lift)If i wasn't trying to keep my spare (which I also changed out, so 7 tires) I may have tried the 285/78R17 They're supposedly another inch or so bigger than these, May have filled out the wells a little more...

It makes a difference. I know going from 265 to 285s I could feel it. When I put 305s I felt the power loss. I went back to my 265/75/16.

are you running those 285s on the back of a dually with no spacer?

Dually with stock 17 alum wheels, only thing on the truck is a 2-2.5" (Throughbreed, iirc) front lift/level and new "Leveled" shocks in the front, Haven't done anything to the rear, no spacers or anything. Originals were 245/75R17. The heaviest load I've really pulled is a ~250-300lb sack of meat in the drivers seat, LOL. I was supposed to trailer a stock bronco to a mudpark for my brother but then it got cancelled due to this corona crap.

I had 305s on my F250 single wheel. They were close. The 99 had for some unknown reason a higher stance than my dually from the factory. It was optioned with a camper package so maybe that’s why. Because the rear springs seem to be the same springs like my dually with the overloads.. The f250 since new sat higher than other f series and I know it was completely stock. Over time and having a big winch bumper the springs sagged. The 305s were able to fit with stock wheels and there was the tiniest rub on full lock nothing touched anywhere else but it was very close.. I didn’t care for the closeness and eventually the road noise from the mud tires pretty much drove me insane . I replaced the springs later with X codes from Deaver springs to regain the height.
it sits 2 inches higher stock for stock against my 2001 F350 Dually. Same cab and drivetrain configuration and my F250 sits higher.

you can probably step up to a 265/75/17 with no rubbing on rear tires and with a spacer can most likely fit 305/75/16 or 285/75/17. Just got to a tire shop and see if they will test fit a tire on one side of the truck
