Is an E4OD that much different? Never done one. But done lots of C4's and C6's. Stand the tranny on it's bell on a couple of blocks. pull the rear mount and remove the keeper there, than the tail shaft housing. Remove the pan and valve body to get to the other clip on the shaft. pull it up slow as not to move the clutches. Slide the short shaft in. Replace the clip, valve body and pan. Easy as Pie.

When you say "clip", do you mean snap ring? Tell me a little bit more about how you get up in there to get the snap ring off the forward end of the output shaft. Obviously you need a 90* snap ring pliers. How do you get inside the reverse hub with the planetary gear assembly in the way? I never thought there might be a way to get in there from the valve body side and assumed you had to go in from the front to remove the snap ring. For those of use with weak E4ODs it would be great if there was some way to swap the tailshaft without having to gut the trans given the large number of 4X2 transmissions out there.
