Tranny Cooling - '93 Aero 3.0L

Was thinking about my Hayden HD tranny cooler installation a couple weekends ago and something struck me about the installation. I went the quick route and simply eliminated the EOM tranny cooler mounted in the bumper and routed the hoses to the new Hayden cooler in the front center of the A/C condensor. If I remember correctly the Hayden directions called this a "serial" mounting. "Serial" because this mounting left the existing tranny cooler routed through the radiator in place. I didn't really trace the cooling lines to their source, so I am now not sure how these were routed. It seemed to me the pressure line originated from the radiator cooling and the other routed back towards the tranny. So, my tranny fluid get pumped to the radiator, then to the new Hayden cooler and then back to the tranny, right?

My question is this - should I eliminated the tranny cooling portion of this system? Or does routing the tranny cooling lines do something good...like warm the tranny fluid during the winter months to smooth out shifting?

Thanks,
Michael

It goes through the radiator first, then the external cooler.

The cooler in the radiator doesn't help, doesn't hurt. Just leave it in since it's the simplest and you have done all you could anyway. Don't fret about it too much. For what it's worth, I did put in the same set up 180K miles ago when I first got the van. It never gave me any grief, so you should be OK.
