It says, "model name: :MP965-D Part No. 1.MA601.B2WO and then it says :Slot-in Combo

Other than that, all I know is it is running Ubuntu.

Can anyone tell me what I have here in language that would compare it to a PC?

Also, if I want to do some folding, what version should I download for this machine?

Thanks
I did a quick search. It appears to be a Macintosh clone. I know very little about Mac's, but I believe that the latest Mac Operating Systems are Linux based. Ubuntu is a Linux distribution. Based on my limited knowledge of both Mac's and Linux, I'd guess you could probably run either the Mac or Linux folding versions.

My suggestion is that if you're not very computer knowledgeable, to talk to your son, tell him what you want to do and ask him to help you set it up properly.

Sorry I can't answer your question better though.

My son is a thousand miles away and always busy.

If anyone knows this machine, perhaps they will chime in!

Thanks for all the folding work you are all doing!

Can't you simply try to download the program? Worst case, you have to remove it and try again.... I think.

RD. Do this first. Find your work folder and copy it in another directory on your hard drive (C:\FAHWORK) Then, completely uninstall the FAH program. You can chose which new flavor that you want to run....... The newest version is 6.23. Before the new install, completely flush the internet cache. All of it. You may have to do it manually to get rid of it.

Also, before you reinstall FAH, do two things. Install it to a folder all by itself, like C:\FAH. Install the program but do not start it. Go to the directory, C:\FAH and find the executable and rename it to just FAH623 dot exe. Then place a shortcut to this file on your desktop.

There is a chance that any work that you have done may be lost. Without actually seeing it (your computer) it would be hard to say, but if you do have work there, it would be in the old work folder. That is why we saved it in another directory. We will work on that after we get you back folding again.

Also, If you plan on using the console version, let me know. I will send you a text that contains a great setup for the configeration I got from Dave.

Next question, with dual cores you can run two versions. I would not suggest it since XP limits your memory to around 3.5 gigs even though you have 4 (Vista is the same damn way). Only running one instance, leaves 50% of each processor free so you can do other things on your computer. I am running the console version on a dual core now and can do basically anything I want except for intensive DVD buring or running photoshop.

By the way Dave, thanks...

Carl, you need to upgrade to IE7 if possible. Not as much holes as IE6.

Carl, you will need a strong laptop to run FAH because of the heat generated. At least a P4 with 2 gigs of memory. You will not be able to run the GUI platform, only the cpu platforms. I was using a PIII with 1 gig of memory and it just fried it. Two puffs of smoke and it was gone. But I am running it on a PI desktop with 256 megs of memory and XP Pro. WOW, what a clunker, it runs, but is a slow as molasses in NY in January. I do have four set up including the boat anchor. They are all over the place, from the clunker to an AMD, a P4 and a dual core. After setting up the other two, was the reason for me to be able to sneak past Larry into the 23rd spot.

As I don't know what you are running, I can't help much. Sent me a PM and let me know what you are running. Then me and dave can get together and help you out.

Paul, I've run 57 WU's out of 104 WU's total (2 teams, several diff names) on the LT. I keep the slider on the CPU usage in the configure box/advance on the 3rd(from left) dot on both rigs. the LT gets shut down alot while the old Compaq(you'd call it the "...Anchor"), runs all the time except when I'm up north.
My WU's take forever but now that I'm rid of Fire Fox, though I loved that browser,YES I LIKE FIRE FOX(just so all know I'm not bashing) my last finished Unit uploaded. I bet I lost 10-12 before I realized I had an issue.
I talked to Ryan, the guy that started this project and walked my through my initial set up, and he thought it may be the settings I had in FF.
Keep in mind buddy...my idea of tech is my Mach 3 razor. It takes a battery!!!!!!
We may need to exchange Ph #'s......maybe you have an insight R may have missed.. though he's a tech young'un I consider a brother. You're the crazy cousin that takes me out at reunions, gets me drunk, and hides Sassy's bone.

That is great, I started doing it for your lady. I have finally crept up into the 23rd slot for FTE with almost 50K points.

Don't have any problem with giving you my number.

I love that last line. I would not hide the baby's bones, maybe tease her about them, but not hide them.

I sure did see that.

We definately need to get a few more members doing this, if even for parttime. We are stuck in the 380th spot. We should have been in the lower 300's by now.

Gongrats NEH. Burning up those WUs!
