Congratulations everybody! I'll bet Ryan is a little overwhelmed with where his post has gone I for one am not. I've never seen a more giving bunch of people anywhere. Who would have thought that a bunch of Ford Pickup Nuts, would have come so far so FAST! Ken, YOU DA MAN! You made it possible for this to happen............Ryan, YOU DA MAN too! You started this whole thing.......I still remember the first few posts, nobody could figure out what you were talking about
To all of those who joined our team.......My utmost respect, and gratitude.
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Now the additional challenge is to DO something that's not passive like visiting children in a cancer ward. Or donate money. Or a walk-a-thon. Its easy to support something that takes no real effort and pat ourselves on the back for it but I guarantee that "hands-on" will bring more comfort and real meaning to those impacted by cancer!

Ken makes a good point. the hospice people do just that. what they did for Nancy & me was God like. just the hr a day made the last 2 wks survivable for me.
after wathching a vibrant intelligent woman need my help to eat, drink, whatever, the hands on aspect hits home.
hopefully efforts like this F@H project will mean soon, that nobody else has to get hands on like i did. i can't close my eyes and not see the visions of last june. bless the hospice workers and volunteers.
screw cancer!!!!!
What non-passive activities are you doing in the fight against cancer right now? Just curious.
I'm in the process myself of re-evaluating my time and what charities are going to get it (and my money). I'm going to a soup kitchen next month to feed the poor, going to the airport to greet soldiers with the USO and I'm considering getting involved in the Boy Scouts. I'm going to try several things to see what really tugs my heart-strings -- I'm not completely sure what it is at this point.

Ken, if i understand you right, my activism will be an annual memorial golf tournament at the course i was a member, in Nancy's name, to benefit the cancer assoc. and the 2 hospice providers in my area. equal disbursement. i'm no longer able to play with my disability(sucks), but i can organize like a SOB. then i'm going to organize a boating poker run on the Sacandaga. for winter, a snowmachine poker run.
i'd prefer most went to the hospice but i know the people i used to golf with. they'll want an equal division of funds because of the cancer rate here. no problem. i'd like hospice to get more as much of their funding is private donation. absolutely nothing against the cancer assoc. but a large part of the hospice visits in my area are cancer related. i want to raise $100 K in 2 yrs. i'll see where it goes after that goal.
if you need a heartstring pulled, watch a hospice nurse next to a husband and wife(cancer riddled) as she takes that last breath. i want no one else to have to be a part of that scene
After my Mum died of Bone cancer back in 1985 I made a point of giving my time to people with cancer.
I visited Clinics,Treatment centers & Childrens hospital with homemade cookies in hand as I lived fairly close to all of them.
Brought my Karaoke machine and performed several types of music depending on the crowd (sometimes in costume)
See the smiling faces ( and not rotten tomatoes thrown at me) was quite satisfying knowing I made a positive different in their life for some brief moment.
A few years later my health nose-dived even more so I had to stop.
These days, besides giving a few bucks to the Cancer society and wearing a Pink ribbon, I don't know what I can do anymore than what I have done.Walking is getting more difficult.
I just know that what is important right now is being there for my Dad when I can.
Ken you should enjoy the Scout movement if that troop doesn't have inner political problems.
Mil, bless what you did while you were able. i felt the guilt of not being able to "get out there" until Nan's mom talked to me.
much can be done with a kind word, hug, e-mail, phone call, a $ donation, a computer F@H, a forum owner allowing us to have a team using his name, and last but not least, a faceless post of support in said forum.
everyone in this F@H project is aggressively helping and in my prayers.
fabman, I'm not the man... just geeky enough to hear about the program on other technology related websites and drug it over here. Knowing the member base here, I almost expected it to take off. Why not, ya know? It's a great cause.
I think you all donating your idle clock cycles on your CPU's and GPU's is very thoughtful, and there are people out there who are very appreciative.
Don't prop me up like I did anything great. The members here are what makes this program spread.
Ryan

Yeah, but you brought it to our attentions. You gave it to us!
"YANNI" said it best:
"The greatest things that ever happened for all mankind, all began as a single thought in someones mind. And if any one of us is capable of such a single great thought - than all of us are capable of it. BECAUSE WE ARE ALL THE SAME"
