Yeah, I've got the sticker, and no, there's no way they would have found the exact combination of options that I ordered on any dealer lot. I have a "weird" combination.

The dealer I worked with guessed they drove it up from Denver since they had a "rush" on it. The destination ramp in Denver is around 90 miles away from the dealer if they drove the freeway the whole way, 80 miles if they didn't and cut through town.

I can see where their assembly schedule may be able slip a "sold" truck ahead of dealer stock trucks, but I don't know for sure. That's what makes me wonder whether the 1/31 is the actual assembly date or not. It does seem fast to be assembled by then and then screw around for another 5 weeks in staging yards and on rail cars. Then again, when you see the size of the staging yards, it's not hard to imagine it sitting there that long.

The dealer put the Revo's on for me for another $313. Well worth it, IMO.

Back in the 80's, A friends dad bought a new Silvarado from the dealer. When he got home he noticed one side said Silvarado and the other said Sierra. The only thing they could figure is that his truck was built right before they tansitioned the assembly line from one model to the other. My guess is someone on the line used the wrong build sheet when they built you truck. Can't the dealer get a replacement for you?

teepee,
I don't know much about GM products but if the Sierra is the GM equivalent of the Silverado that same thing happend to a friend... one side Chevy, the other side GM. Funny thing is it took him monthes to notice!!

VFR,
The first thing I noticed about your truck is that it is leaning to one side, but maybe it is not sitting on level ground?

Maybe they just ran out of LH mirrors for the chrome package. They sure arent going to park it on the side of the line waiting for the right mirror. Put that baby together and let the dealer handle the misbuilt claim.

Just got back from the dealer. They're only willing to install the correct black mirror since that is all corporate will be willing to do. Figures.

Looked at the goofed mirror closer, it's actually a power folder too, but the power folding doesn't work. Not sure what it would take to get that to function, a computer tweaking?

I can't find where you would spec a chrome-topped, power folding mirror. The power fold option doesn't describe a chrome skull, the Lariat chrome pkg doesn't describe power fold, and the pictures of the KR pkg show body colored skulls. Seems like a total frankenstein.

Other awesome news, I think the truck has the dreaded "shimmy" at about 65 mph. Front left tire has a 2.25 oz weight while the others are all .5 oz or so, so that's suspicious.

Just another loyal Ford customer becoming much less so, no biggie.

Ford has long been dreaming of the day when it can build half of all trucks exactly to customer specifications. Looks like you got the left half.

I'd look at the forum sponsors and buy a matching one for the drivers side if you like the light. It'll cost you a hundred or so, but that's worth it to not have to deal with the stealership.

Then, go to the dealer and ask them for the replacement mirror and tell them you'll install it yourself. Then sell the pair on ebay to pay for the extra chrome one.

On second thought, they'd never let you leave the dealer with an extra mirror would they. Stoopid dealer.

LOL

Wow. And to think that the trucks are "inspected" before being placed on the lot.

I also don't see an antenna, however, that could be the angle.

That's nothing. A couple of years ago I was working on a Windstar that had body colored w/crome insert bodyside mouldings on the driver's side and plain black ones on the passanger's. Boy, did the owner throw an attitude when I mentioned it.

Well we got a Lariat in today that has power fold switch but standard mirrors.

A couple months ago we got a Freestar with alloys on one side and hub caps and steel wheels on the other. Accident? I doubt it. Those assembly peeps are wierd and wired some days.
