Hi everyone,

I just replaced the front bumper and instrument cluster on my truck (94 f150 straight 6, e4od auto, 4x4). I swapped my stock cluster for one with a tach from a parts truck. The parts truck was also a 94, so the parts are the same.

Ever since, what I believe is the Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor is beeping. It beeps 5 series of 5 beeps when the key is in the run position. From searching this site, I believe this is a fault in the airbag system, but the airbag light in the dash doesn't blink. It used to blink when i had the old instrument cluster in, I believe it was code 45.

I don't care if the airbag light blinks, but the beeping is driving me crazy. How can I either fix the problem, or simply stop the beeping? My understanding is the airbag impact sensors are hard wired to the airbag, so the moniter has nothing to do with deploying the airbag. Can I just pull the plugs out of the moniter and disable it?

Also, I want to thank everyone for all their posts on this site. I have been able to solve every other problem on my truck by searching the forums, but this one has me stumpped. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

Check the dash dose it have the icon for the air Bag? Some 94 didn't have airbag. As for the front sensor you were nowhere near it. So I'd but you new dash isn't making contact etc. As for the box I don't know if you can just unplug it. every time I work on them I wait for the poof.
I'll do some research . I have the Factory CD Manual but its worse than my book versions sometimes.

 

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at the dash to make sure it has the airbag icon. I'm pretty sure it does, so i'm thinking the same thing you suggested- that the new dash just isn' lighting up the airbag light for some reason, and the monitor is beeping to make up for it. If you find out anything esle, let me know.
