Downriver Thunder did you put premium gas in it and try the performance tune yet? You will smoke the tires then.

I had a half tank of 87 octane, put the performance tune on, added a bottle of octane boost then went and filled up with 92 octane.

I seemed to be getting a bit worse mileage with the performance tune so I installed the Mileage XS program this morning and will fill it up & try it again. The truck really woke up when I installed the performance tune and seems to act the same with the Mileage XS tune. I would suggest to anyone who has a sluggish 5.4 to try and get the computer reprogrammed first, you may not need a tuner.

What do you mean by that? Can my dad do it with his Snap On Solus scanner? I want to get a tuner with my tax return....just not sure which one to go with (thinkin Edge or Gryphon that I seen on this site). My truck is a 04' F250 Superduty 5.4....gonna have a Magnaflow exhaust very soon too. I want a tuner that compensates for mods such as cold air intake, headers, throttle bodies, exhaust, so on.

Did you have your PCM re-flashed at the dealership before you installed your new Superchips Flashpaq tuner? If so, what did they charge you for the re-flash?

No, didn't have it reflashed at the dealer. I had nothing to do with the purchase of this truck, if I had, I wouldn't have this truck. It would be a PSD.

That's right Patrick. I think my whole problem was a faulty programmed computer. I used the Superchips to put in the mileage program and it still runs as good as the performance tune. That's why I said it you're having sluggish issues then have it reflashed, cheaper than a tuner and it might fix it.

for a '05+ 5.4, what kind of power increase can you expect with a good tuner? Can it get into V10 like power/tq?

I wish that I could answer that question. I don't believe that my SCT Livewire on the custom performance tune (93-octane) is reaching V10 performance levels. I need to make a road trip to 5 Star Tuning and put the truck on the dyno to verify the HP/TQ increases.
