dh65,

What are you going to do? You brought up all of the facts in your first post. The only fact I have not found for sure is the cost of the BD unit. This company
www.azurebiodiesel.com is running hands on workshops. This was from an ad in my local Farm & Dairy paper. I'm thinking about going to check one out.

You seem to have all of your ducks in a row. Are you going to make your own processor?

I get my methanol and KOH from a chemical company. The Methanol is cheaper from them than it is from a petrolum store. I buy my WVO from a Grease collector licensed to collect it. Around here its illegal for me to take it from a restaurant once they have put it into containers outside wether I have permission from them or not.

Truck loves BD.

It was difficult for me to find places for me to get WVO. Cleveland, Ohio is about an hour away, a company from there is paying for all of the WVO. This must be big business! It's not easy for us that are trying to think out of the box!

Buy it from the company that collects it. I get 55 gallons of WVO for 30$. My cost to make my BD is about 1.48$ per gallon.

Do they filter/clean it for you. It would be like re-refined oil. Or do you get it like they get it.Did you make your own bio station?

I get it like they get it. Still in the barrels. I have a platform/winch that I bought from Harbor frieght that goes into my reciever hitch that I use to lower the barrels out of my truck. I made my own processor station, and I filter the heck out of my product. I filter the oil before it goes into the processor, I filter my BD as it goes from my processor into my wash/dry barrel. Again as it goes into my storage barrel, (all 200micron barrel filters). Then I have a metered pump with a 15micron filter on it for when i pump it into my truck. See my picture album.

I will have to check out the platform winch. I haven't been to my local Habor Freight for a while, time to do some browsing. How is the winch holding up for you?

No problems with it so far, I only use it to lower the barrels into my garage. When I pick up the barrels, they put them into the back of my truck for me. I carry home five 55 gallon drums at a time.

Wow! What do you do & how many miles do you drive per year? Do you just use the one truck? How many miles do you usually get from a vehicle?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks Troy for that bit of info. Don-(Fabman) gave me some info on injecting nitrogen into my still while pumping BD in with gear pump and orfice. Not sure how much he suggests injecting but I like the idea. Need to get gear pump somewhere. Was initially interested in hydro cyclone but it sounds too pricey ($2000). I presume settling 12 hours will do the same thing.
