IRS suspension in a Ranger?

Hell all,

Has anyone tried the installation of an IRS system in their truck? I noticed this ad on the FTE site and it looks like something I would want to do to the Ranger sometime down the road. According to these guys you get a complete IRS from the rear of a 93-97 Thunderbird or Lincoln MK 8 and then buy their adapters, and weld them to your truck's frame and you have instant four wheel independant suspension, and four wheel disc brakes (if you get the IRS from a disc brake equipped car).

Here is the link to the site.

Since my plans for the Ranger are to make it a capable canyon runner, I was thinking of installing one from a Lincoln with the aluminum diff and disc brakes. I have not yet decided on the powerplant yet, I will either go with the popular 5 liter HO V8, or run a turbocharged 2.3L from a Turbo Coupe.

They claim that it will fit 73-79 Ford trucks for sure, and a 1995 Ford Ranger for sure, others have not been tested. Mine is an '87 but I am thinking it should work unless Ford has changed the width of their Ranger frames over the years.

Jim
