73 ford manufactured camper
In 1973 I had a guy try to sell me a 1973 Super Camper Special with a fiberglass camper that was manufactured by Ford. The camper was 12 or 13ft and he had purchased the entire rig from a dealer in Phoenix. The Camper manufactures serial and model year plate said manufactured by Ford. There also where Ford emblems on it and it was almost new. The guy wanted to sell it because he could not buy gas for it, it was right after the oil embargo of 73 and we had long lines at the pumps. I was into Fords at the time and was road racing shelby GT 350s, so this interested me though I did not buy it. Several years later I ran across a brouchure for this same set up. That was the only one I ever saw because the oil-gas shortage killed the sales of gas eating things. I was just wondering if anyone had one of these campers or had ever even seen one.

Ford offered a standard and deluxe camper shell from 1973 thru 1979.
Ford also offered a slide in fibreglass cabover camper in the 1970's. It was called the "Ford American Road." It came "fully dressed" with built in stove and fridge, and it even had seat belts in the camper.
Neither of these campers were made by Ford. The American Roads were made by Coach-Lite in Middlebury, Indiana. I don't recall who made the camper shells.
