I just bought a 2007 f350 with a 6.0. i can't find the engine block heater cord?? I looked in the owners manual and it says "If Equiped"???? I thought all diesels would have a engine block heater. so i went online and built a 2007 superduty on fords website. there is now option for a engine block heater??? so what gives? do i have one or no?

 

If you have one it will be right beside the left fog light on the front of the truck

 

Like UGA said it should be up by the passenger side tow hook/fog light inside the bumper. It will have a cover on it so don't just look for the three prong plug (someone else on here didn't notice it at first because of the cover). Only the trucks that were originally shipped to what Ford thought were "cold" states got them, unless it was ordered as an option. If you don't have the cord you can buy one from Ford, International, or from many online sources. Ford is by far the most overpriced though.

 

well thats why i'm asking, because i intalled a plow and had to remove the bumper to do it. there was deffenetly no cordes anywhere to be seen left or right. so is the engine block heater there, but no cord? or do i have to actually get a engine block heater itself?

 

Here is where you hook up the factory plug/chord to the heater core from inside the engine block. Passengers side above the starter. Loof for the orange, extension cord like piece coming from out of the block.

 

i have a 07 f250 crew cab 8 foot bed 6.0 i also searched for the cord well i found theblock heater in the block but no cord attached to it if ya look at the sideof the block near the starter you willsee the freeze plug with the block heater in it but no cord attached the cheap *******s

 

Yep the heater is already installed in the engine you just need the cord. A buddy of mine here at work says that any International heater cord with the two female contacts and the ground on the outside edge will work. He said there should be one for around $10. I bought mine before I talked to him, and got the part number I found on here and it ran me $40. My cord has a ground fault switch in it which I am sure bumped up the cost a bit.

 

I would think that a vehicle bought in Vermont WOULD have the cord. It def. gets cold enough there! Isn't VT one of the 'cold' states that's supposed to have the cord installed?

 

I picked up my F250 diesel last week- same deal; no cord. Thanks to this board, I found the already installed heater element and simply ordered a power cord today. Access is super easy, as will routing the wires be. I'm taking mine to a timer and tying in a Battery Tender- then taking the 110v aft where I'll be hard wiring an outlet in/near the rear bumper with a recessed plug. Whenever it's plugged in; the Battery Tender turns on (keeping the batteries topped off and warm) and the block heater will be on a timer, going long before I wake up.

 

well thats very good news. it was -12 today so i would have liked it. truck still strats fine. i just want it to start with less wear on the motor. thank you all for the info!!

should i call ford and tell them to give me a cord for free? especially since i live in a cold state? they want about $80 for it and they can get it for tomorrow or the next day. i really don't have time to go make or search for cheaper, its gunna be cold for the next few days so i want it in and heating. what do you think?

 

Good luck with telling Ford what they're going to do or not...I'd just buy the silly cable and save the arm wrestling for when ya really need it.

 

IIRC, going to powerstrokeparts.com: it was $50. Check that url though, I'm on my Blackberry so I'm not sure, it did come off the FTE site/search.

 

That's weird, I live in vegas, and it came with the truck, installed....go figure
