NP435 Grinding
I have a 84 bronco with a NP535. At first I had to realease the clutch a little to engage 1st gear, so I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and bearing. While I had it torn apart I put in a new flywheel. It still has the same problem and now it grinds from 1st to 2nd. I notice when I down shift it will grind at 2000-2500RPM. Is my linkage going bad? I changed the fluid when I replaced the clutch. Whats the deal?

sounds more like the synchros are gone. I did a rebuild on my old 73 highboy np435. I had similar problems, trying to shift into granny or down shifting from 4th to 3rd. I spent around 500 having the tranny rebuilt with new synchros and bearings. when it was apart the mechanic said the gears looked brand new. I told him the tranny had over 200,000 miles on it. he damn near dropped it on his toe in disbelef. Good luck with yours if you get that replaced it will run for ever.
