Off road down pipes for a 2000 F150 5.4

Hi, I'm new here. Does anyone know where I can get off road (without cats) downpipes for a 2000 f150 with a 5.4? I just bought my truck used, and whoever put true duals on it, hacked it up. It has leaks everywhere and the pipes are so rusty that when I try to weld them up, it just makes a bigger hole. I'd like to just ditch the cats and run new pipes all the way back.

Thanks, Doug

Have you tried bringing your truck to a mom and pop type muffler shop in your town?

BTW, Welcome to FTE!

The problem is that the Mom & Pop's don't have the ability to make the mating flange for 2 1'2" pipe to replace what is there.

The flange that goes from the manifolds to the rest of the exhaust?

Yes. I don't know yet what type of flange it takes, but I am looking for about 2' sections of tubing with the correct bends and the flanges already on them. I assume they are just ball and socket on both sides, but on my 2002 Mustang GT, it is ball and socket on the drivers side and a flat flange with a gasket on the pass. side. I want something basically exactly like the stock y pipe, but without the cats and made in 2 1/2" tubing.

P.S. I just bought this truck. What are some other good forums sites for these trucks?

Can he take the flange that is already on there and weld new pipe onto it? I know that you can get an off road y pipe by pacesetter made for their long tubes, but I didn't see anything else on summit.

The exhaust setup on the 4.6 Mustangs is a little goofy. We never did get my friend's O/R x-pipe to seal completely since there was not enough room for adjustment being that the passenger side is flat with the gasket.

My 1994 with the 5.0 has ball flanges on both sides which makes it a piece of cake to seal up the H pipe, although my H pipe is in multiple sections which also helped.

What about the fuel tank being in the way? I've always heard that true duals are a huge pain because of that.

I live in Oklahoma, and we don't even do inspections anymore, smog or otherwise. I can just remove the cats and use MIL eliminators from a Mustang to keep it from showing codes. A local guy here said that he would do true duals from the manifolds back for $250.00. That includes chrome tips and I provide the mufflers. That is running both down the pass. side and then taking the pass. side of the engine to the driver side of the rear bumper and vice versa, just to keep the pipes about the same length. I think I'm gonna put some two chamber flowmasters on it.

You can also use a tuner to shut off the rear O2s. DieselUp, a sponser on here, has an amazing deal on DiabloSport predators. My dad picked one up for his 2007 Mustang GT and the canned tunes are great.

Don't go with a chambered flowmaster. For one, they rust out quickly, they flow like garbage and IMO they sound crappy. I'd look for a straight through muffler as it will give you a more mellow sound rather than the raspy sound of a flowmaster.
