new hood hinges question

I think that I found a happy medium as far as the hood gaps go . But has anyone tried the new hood hinges that mid fifty or the guy on ebay sells ? I don't like the Idea of having to push the back of the hood down to close it and wanted to ask if the new hinges were better at getting rid of this problem or what new ideas has anyone on here come up with ? Thanks

The new hinges I put on my '56 made it so that it would seat without pushing back on the hood. =D I got them from a shop near my gramp's house.

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but...

After I lubricated my original hinges and got the right bolts for them, I don't need to push down the hood anymore. I think it may have been Axracer that has some pictures in his gallery of how to properly condition them.

I bought new hinges from Mid Fifty, they are well made
When I first fitted them I still had to push the back of the hood down
I took them off and freed them up a bit as they were quite tight, now the hood goes down OK

yes, take the springs off and be sure the pivot behind the spring is free and lubricated.
See my extras gallery for pix showing the pivot. Even new hinges seem to require freeing up. Once it is moving freely lube it with some white lithium grease to keep it from freezing up again. If it still doesn't close completely on it's own adjust the catch striker plate further FORWARDS towards the front of the truck.

Thanks , not only will the hood not close without help in the back corners , the hinges will not support the weight and keep the hood open . If I can get it to close right. I am not above making a prop rod for extra support .

be sure the springs are installed correctly. See my pix. The hood will not stay open by itself @ more than ~ 45 degrees.

New hinges from Mid-50 threw the alignment off & could not get a good fit. Put the old ones back on and got a good compromise fit. Don't have to push the rear down.
