Yeah I got the General's on my 06 too, and I gotta tell ya, I do get the shimmy @ 55mph, only when they are cold though. Once they warm up they're a lot better. I had them done on a hunter machine, they were off just a bit. I had BFG A/T on my 96, never had an ounce of problems with them. I'm beginning to think that it's the rack and pinion steering they started using in 04. If you look back, this is when all these "shimmy" issues came about. anything pre-04, had the pitman arm drag link setup. I did look at my rack and mine has revision BB on it, so there must have been some complaints originally in order for them to revise it.HMM makes you wonder.

05 Fx4 2yrs old 32,000 miles I have Goodyear Wranglers and I have had no issues at all. I have heard this complaint more than any other regarding the 04 & up. Which leads me to believe it might be something with the front end suspension. I really hope Ford figures this out, it should not hapeen on a new vehicle.

Had a set of generals, they where crap. Was developing the wheel shimmy issue. Went with the BFG A/Ts, not a problem and they handle great. There seems to be alot of weights on the rims. Wonder how much of it could poor casting of the rims. It could explain why people have problems and some don't.

I dont know if it is the wheels alone as some have added custom aftermarket wheels and still have the shimmy..it is obviously something to do with the new design although ford engineers still dont have a clue as to why some vehicles steering wheels will shimmy or nibble even after road force balancing per fords TSB. some have changed many parts including steering racks, dampener, added new drive shafts, new tires and wheels in some cases Ive read about..Im gonna try the Bridgestone Revos most people say they balance with very little weight and Ive read on the bridgestone web site they use a special designed tire rim where it meets the wheel and this design makes for a much rounder tire overall.Im also gonna the have the tire shop use the ford TSB on road force balancing and if they dont stop the shimmy I will be able to return the tires for a full refund through firestone/bridgestones policy..If that doent work Im giving up on the truck.

I wonder if those are the tires your particular dealer sells? When I purchased my truck, I did not like the tires that were on it from the factory, and they swapped them out for the Toyo's. They said they would be warranted exactly the same as if they were put on from the factory. If you are set on getting the Revo's, ask the tire dealer about their return policy. I would do that before making a decision... just a thought

The only reviews I have read that knock the Revo's were from people with 1 ton trucks who said they wore out too fast.
The Revo's have a 50K mile warranty, so if they did poop out real fast, you could at least get some of the value back from them, but I don't think they are going to wear that bad on an F-150 (as long as you don't roast them off yourself).

The factory-installed BFG's were absolutely perfect all the way to the very end (40k miles). No vibrations and handled very well. I thought about another tire but these performed so well that I had the same tires installed. Big mistake. I have had nothing but bad vibrations since the beginning. They have been on the road-force variance machine once, the regular balance machine twice, and one or two have even been replaced...with no luck. I still have a tremendous amount of vibration. Spend the extra cabbage and get the Michelins.

I have the shimmy problem on my 04 and have been trying to get it worked out with the dealer and now the waranty is up. They insist it is the tires. Mine came with Generals. It is hard to believe when they show no abnormal wear. However my Son-In-Law had the same problem and new tires fixed it. If your tires are Gooddrich and have this problem, are they using seconds from the factory to cut cost? My brakes are also almost worn out and rotars look badly worn. I have heard that Ford went to a soft rotar to eliminate squeaky brakes and they are only good for aboout 35,000 miles. Is this true?

Hobbs, regarding the brakes, I spend more time on the highway than in the city but the rotors were cut and trued once (@ 42k). I now have 54k miles and use the same rotors but new OEM pads. So far, so good.
HomerWinzlow, I replaced my BFG Long Trails (265/60/18) with the same tires. BTW, I also had the wheels checked for true and they are fine.
