2006 F250 HID Retrofit

So i decided the light output on my F250 is pretty weak. So I am doing a complete HID retrofit using Acura TL projectors, ballasts, and bulbs.

Here is the headlight.

You have to bake the lights at 250F for 15 minutes, pull them apart after the glue is melted. Then i removed the light reflector on the top part of the light housing. The left is the stock reflector, the right is the rear of the TL projector.

I then cut into the stock reflector to make it look like this

Then I painted it black

I now have to get a good shroud, and make a wiring harness and I will have lovely lights in my truck! I can't wait.

They are Acura TL bixenons i got them off ebay for $500, pretty costly but I think it will be well worth it when its done. Lots of dremel work, lots of trial and error but I am making progress. Here is a pic to give you and idea of where I am at... i need to make the shroud and bezel to give it a finished look.

Very interesting project. Well done! May have to fiddle to get them aimed correctly, but once they are they'll be great. I have bixenons in my car an love them.

Slowly getting there. I just got the wire harness together, all I have to do now is finish the shroud, bezel, and line them up on the truck before sealing them back up. I estimate mid next week for some final testing if the weather allows. I will keep you guys posted.
Total cost so far
$500 - TL Projectors, ballasts, D2S Bulbs
$ 15 - Misc dremel bits
$ 20 - Spray paint, high temp expoxy, JB weld
$ 70 - Wiring harness
$ 30 - Random aluminum things to make shrouds out of
---------
$ 635 so far...

Ok, I have the wiring harness. I am almost ready for installation. I made shrouds out of 6" oven range covers.

Here is the almost finished product

I am surpised even in the 2008 models they don't offer these as an upgraded option. You spend 50K on a truck you should get the best lighting on the market.

I have them on my truck now, with the covers off. I am in the first steps of aiming them. So far so good.

Very nice. Done correctly too (vs. just sticking some bulbs in). Interesting choice for the shroud, it looks very nice. I'd love to see a full front pic if you get a chance.
