Welcome To FTE

3 = 1965 = Vermillion

D = Light Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic.

87 = Econoline Pickup

Your VIN and codes on your VIN plate can also be decoded. This will inform you where the truck was built, and what Ford District Office (i.e. city) it was shipped to originally.

I tried finding more info on what exact pickup he had, but only could find what the 87A and 87B were...So did the 87B have some springtime additions like colors?

I was going to let the Econoline fellow above take care of you since I don't know much about these. Since you posted the paint and body code, why not post the rest of the numbers from your VIN plate. The VI Number you posted doesn't tell much, but the plate contains all sorts of interesting things like axle/trans/DSO codes.

E10 = E100
T = 170 cubic inch I-6
H = Lorain Ohio Assembly Plant
699868 = 1965

E10TH699868

When you can post some pics in your gallery of this truck. I like to see the dual tanks on the truck.

Wow you have a 5 window truck yet and it has a straight body to boot. Just the 2nd gas tank is interesting. I wonder how it is mounted on the truck. Or is the tank something someone added afterwards.
The chrome trim package is pretty good shape too. That truck is worth a good coin here. It looks like a new paint would really bring out a sharp truck and rare one for you in England.

we knew there was a spring special in england, just wasnt sure where.

heres your decode.

E10 = Econoline pickup
T = 170 engine
H = Lorain Ohio assembly plant
699868 = June 1965 serial number (1965 model)
(-) = wheelbase (90 inches)
(-) = color (likely 3 = Poppy Red)
(-) = model (E100 = 3600 pound GVW Econoline
pickup)
(-) = trim (likely D87 = beige custom interior
Econoline pickup)
A = 3 speed transmission
031 = 3.50:1 light duty axle (7-1/4 inch)
3600 = 1/2 ton GVW
85 at 3800 = certified net HP at RPM
36 = Louisville (Kentucky) sales district

The "1" in the "031" axle code tells us it's
indeed a
Spring Special model.
