First day at the new job went pretty well

I busted some drill bits, but payday is tomorrow so I went out and got a real set of hardened bits (See the garage and workshop forum for "The DRILL BIT Thread").

DeWalt cobalt bits, and a bit-box for the other high-buck bits I've collected to keep them seperate. *DeWalt sells a compartmented box as an accessory for about five bucks. Lowes has them.

There are AMAZINGLY FINE LOOKING southern ladies falling out of the woodwork where I'm working now. Talk about a job perc - MAN, what are we talking about? And yet - Bill Clinton messed up so bad over a girl who looked like she ought to be serving draft beer at a bowling alley somewheres....

What a schmuck! I think that's why I disrespect Clinton so much.

His taste in consorts is definitely lacking.

The drive to there and back still needs fine tuning. I can be much faster now that I don't have to haul stuff.

Your right about the good scenery around Olive Branch. There must be something in the water there that grows all the hot chicks

I'll be going after the annoying whine in my tranny tomorrow. It got worse as soon as I began running serious highway speeds, and I bet it has the original fluid (or what's left of it) and the first, second, third, fifth, and reverse shafts are higher in the case than the fourth gear.

4th still sounds smooth.

It will be drained, flushed with fresh fluid, and filled with a combination of lucas auto trans goop and fresh mercon, unless I find out tonight that Lucas is a bad idea.

Buy Royal Purple gear oil. I use it in everything I have. It doesn't need any additives but I do use friction modifiers in my LS rearend

Here is the scoop on how the Lucas idea came out:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...a-5-speed.html

I knew I needed to look at that first thing, but I gaffed it off.

Its a good thing you checked the fluid in your tranny. The long drive you have now would have killed it since it was almost out of fluid.

It may yet, but I think it will "Hold What It's Got" until I can do something permanent. From what I saw, it WAS running dry.

I've never seen a gearbox hold together like that under those conditions.
