'56 Speedometer cable installation?

How do you install a speedometer cable in a ’56 with an AOD automatic transmission? Does the cable go through the firewall? Or does it stay inside and go through the transmission cover with the E-brake cable? The speedometer is stock.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

A shop will custom make a cable if I can determine the length. What else do I need to know about installation, brackets, etc?

I would think you would want it to go thru the firewall due to the bends it would have to make to gothru the trans panel. Most all of the speedo cables I've ever seen have gone thru the firewall. I could be wrong, but that's how I think I would run it.

Speedo cable through rubber grommet in firewall routed to transmission.
