I think that the assessment is for dealer advertising like the TV commercials that are sponsored by your area Ford Dealers. I'd negotiate on that sort of junk.

The FDAF is something that is attached to every new vehicle invoice, and if I'm not mistaken, can vary from region to region.

As for the gas, I'm pretty sure that ford puts some in the vehicle from the factory, but I thought that was included in the base price and not something added after the fact.

fdaf sounds like a scam. that sounds like a crack dealer who has the crackheads buy his loot for him then he just breaks it up for the junkies.

The fuel charge is on every Ford invoice that I have ever seen. The FDAF is a U.S. thing, it is probably just hidden in the base cost of the vehicle in Canada.

It's funny because consumers are buying these vehicles at invoice which leaves the dealer 2% which is $1,000 in profit on a $50,000 vehicle, and a good percentage of them are still thinking they got ripped off. I wonder how many other business's make 2% margin and still have to pay for expenses. It makes you wonder how they stay in business.

Well the money for the fancy prime location dealerships can also come from the service department, parts department, body shop, detail shop etc...

As for the salesman making a nice living, the last two Ford salesman who sponsored this site are now not selling Ford's. I personally don't see the problem with a dealership making $3,000-$4,000 on a $50,000 truck, they just need to have the customer service to back it up.

The invoice price they gave me for a '08 special order F250 include both FDAF and the gas charge. I believe the gas charge was $36 for 13 gallons. The salesman told me not to worry I would get a full tank (38 gallons) and that it was included on all invoices.

I'd be thrilled to get 5 gallons for $11.25 !

On Long Island it would cost you $15...

I seriously doubt that on a $50k sale only $1k is profit... 'Stealerships' are in the business of making money, not selling for almost cost. An yes, trade-ins do help to bring in profits, sometime very large ones at that.
