(48-60 and beyond) O/T but still Ford related...New Toy!

Gentlemen,
I am a genius!! I just saved myself 6 months of grueling non truck related work. For years I have been stalling on restoring the wife's 1967 VW bug. This was going to be the year, I was going to take $3000 and go through the bug to make it a decent daily driver for her. Last night I spent a bit less than the 3K and plopped it down on something a bit more fun. The bonus? I don't have to spend my summer toiling away on the bug while my truck gathers dust.

Here's a couple of pics, its a 65 Falcon sedan, 6cyl, automatic

Hopefully I'll bring it home this weekend

Thanks all
Bobby

So is this going to replace your wife's bug, or will you be sleeping in the back seat because you spent the money for her car on a new toy?

LOL...

Whe's been after me to just sell the bug since I'm never going to touch it. I showed her this car and she got excited about it. So, I'm off the hook, she is tickled pink and I'm out of the doghouse (for a few minutes anyway...lol)

Nice find Bobby, I used to have a 62 Falcon with a three speed and 170 ci? engine. It was a great little car, economical and very dependable, wish I still had it. Yours looks to be in very good condition.

65X, 62A, available with either a 170, 200 or a 289. Those are early 63/4 wire wheel covers (C30Z 1130-D)...because the "knockoff" part extends outwards...careful when parking next to curbs!

Heck, why not go full bore...and put a rare Factory Ford Weber 4 deuce setup on it when you go to the 289. You can add a Hone Electric Overdrive also. That was a rare option on the 65/66 Shelby GT 350's. That'll give you a 5 speed, as the Hone has its own shift lever.

Thanks guys,

It is a 6cyl automatic (not sure what size 6.....I was told but I forgot already). I think that is why I was able to sell the significant other on this car is that it is a 6 (she's an economical woman)
Thats cool that the wheel covers are a stock item. I will probably take them off and run some chrome reverses with baby moons, but not for awhile (the wire wheel covers would more than likely get hung on the wall).

I can't wait to get it home

I don't know enough about them to tell (yet). It was listed as a 65. I do know that its a sedan and not the hardtop (too bad, the hardtops are really sexy)

Jim,

What are the differences? According to Bill, the wheel covers are 63/64. Maybe the whole car is a 64.
