Rotella T

I was told the other day by a diesel shop that Rotella T was the worst oil I could use in my '99 PS. This is not synthetic. He said the synthetic was okay to use. When I first got my truck I was told that Rotella T was the best to use because it did not foam and worked better on the injectors. The diesel shop said that Delo was better than Rotella T. I used Delo in my old 6.? but since Sam's carries Rotella T ...that became my reason for using it. Our Sam's does not carry the synthetic but I did see some at Walmart. Does anyone have any comments on Rotella T usage? Thanks. Texas C

I've seen lots of guys talk about their using Rotella T in here. I don't recall hearing about any problems with it, either.

Bought my 99 in Oct 98. Put Rotella-T in on the first oil change. 148k miles and no problems.

I just did my first oil change on my recently acquired 2002 7.3L (it now has 63k on it) and put in dino Rotella. I didn't see that Wally-World had the syn version until after I did my change. Next change will be syn Rotella. It's $17/g instead of $9/g. No brainer, IMHO.

Both of them meet the Ford Spec (according to the label, anyway) and tons of guys I know have run it for years. Sounds like your guy is blowing smoke to me.

I have been using Shell Rotella T dino oil since I bought my used 02 F-350 two years ago. I have never had any issues and have had two BLACKSTONE oil analysis that prove good results. I have since switched to the synthetic version.

rotella T

I run many diesel engines, farm and road. I use rotella T exclusiively. My mechanics say there is none better.

Nothing but Rotella T so far. Might swap to synthetic just for comparison.

A couple of guys have been reading up on Amsoil here at work, they say that some Semis have gone over 1 million miles on the same oil, and the engine still ran fine.

I have run Rotella T from time to time when my Oil changer was out of Delo, and can say that I get a little more injector noise from the Rotella than the Delo. that being said I do NOT feel that I am running an inferior oil to the Delo, just different. I have a relative that works for Chevron down in the Gulf and that is one reason I have mostly run DELO.

What I meant was, they never changed the oil for 1 million miles

I read about something like that on the Amsoil site. I'm not sure I'd do that unless I was consistently monitoring the oil ($30 trips to Blackstone) and of course, the filter still gets changed regularly, which then requires adding some new oil to the engine anyway. Seems like a lot of grief when I can spend not too much more and know I have good oil. To each his own!!
